As we reflect on an eventful season, I'm filled with a great deal of pride for our incredible club. This year we’ve achieved remarkable milestones and witnessed the growth and development of our teams and community.
One of the significant highlights of the season was the grand opening of our new clubrooms. This state-of-the-art facility has provided us with an awesome home base, allowing us to host functions and cheer on our teams with a clear, protected view of both ovals. The new netball courts are now completed and we can’t wait to welcome all of our netballers back home where they belong.
On the field in 2024, all teams have thrived, with three netball sides and three football sides making it to the finals. Our development women’s and men's teams reached the preliminary final, both narrowly missing out on grand final appearances. D grade netball showcased their talent, changing leads many times in their grand final clash before becoming undermanned and overrun in a thrilling finish. Every PFNC team and player, from our youngest to our most experienced, has contributed to our on field/ court success and demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship always.
Almost every player across all teams has recommitted for 2025 which is testimony to our fantastic coaches, support staff and community. Footy Training recommenced last week and it is looking likely that we will enter another men’s team to accommodate all of our local talent. Netball grading was extremely well attended, and we’re looking at holding a whole club training night ASAP.
The absence of clubrooms meant that most functions were held offsite in recent times, so we were rapt to able to come together at our club for several special occasions in 2024. Functions such as ladies day, the mid season ball, hoe down and presentation night were huge, bringing together players, coaches, trainers, officials, parents, sponsors and supporters from all facets of football and netball.
Our sponsorship continued to grow to this year and we’d like to acknowledge their generosity and support. Without our sponsors our club simply wouldn’t function. We’ll be advertising our sponsors across a range of mediums and urge everyone to get behind these businesses wherever possible
Our 2024 AGM was well attended with many new faces joining our committee for the upcoming 2025 season. It will be great to have such a large and strong committee moving forward. Our executive committee has a undergone significant change welcoming Troy Gent as Vice President and Marty Kean as Treasurer. They both bring a wealth of business experience and have already began planning financially for next season. Meaghan McKinnon will once again be Secretary and Jeff McGuiness, President. Cam Duncan and Emily Hansford will continue in their roles as Head of Footy and Head of Netball respectively, while also serving on the general committee. Les Rand has taken on the role of Head of Women’s Footy and has great plans to continue to build this important sector of our club.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Sharon Bravo for her dedication and hard-work as secretary and then treasurer of PFNC. Sharon has decided to take a much earned break from these roles after working tirelessly on the executive committee for 9 years. She has volunteered 1000s of hours to oversee every facet of the club, an absolutely mammoth task. Sharon has been very instrumental in our on field successes and the huge growth we’ve experienced in player participation and as a club. We wish Sharon all the best and hope to see her relaxing and enjoying a wine at our games and functions in 2025.
Finally I want to express my sincere thanks to everyone involved in making this season a memorable one. Your dedication, and support have been invaluable.
We look forward to an even bigger and better season next year and many more highlights for our great club in 2025.
