The Toronto Dingos suffered their first loss of the season, squaring off in Round 4 action against longtime rivals the Toronto Eagles. Despite perfect footy conditions and a quick-strike opening goal by Thomas Santibanez-Espinosa, the Eagles midfield quickly asserted itself in the opening quarter and hemmed the Red and Black in the defensive end for most of the first half, running up a 7-to-1 goal advantage at halftime. Tactical adjustments made by the Dingos proved more fruitful in the second half on the offensive end, with Stefan Cosma slotting two goals during some steady passages of play by the midfielders, but the Eagles maintained a comfortable margin and answered every Dingo push with goals of their own. By the final siren, the young Dingo squad was outscored by a 10-goal margin and fell to 3-1 on the 2019 season.
Dingos - 5.6-36
EAGLES - 15.10-100
Dingo goals: S. Cosma 2, M. Ladd, T. Santibanez-Espinosa, S. Donnelly
Next up, the Dingos will travel down the QEW to square off against the Hamilton Wildcats in an away game.
