Code of Conduct Policy

Our club is committed to providing a safe environment for participation.
Angry, aggressive or other inappropriate behavior by members, their families and friends and other sporting personnelwhileattending a game will not betolerated.
As an affiliated club we abide by the code of conduct set by Victorian Country Football League andNetballAustralia and we expect all players, coaches, parents, supporters and members to meet thefollowing requirements:
- Operate within the rules and spirit of the game promoting fair play and goodsportsmanship.
- Respect the rights and worth of every player regardless of their gender, ability, culturalbackgroundandreligion.
- Respect the decisions of official's, coaches and administrators in the conduct of thesport.
- Ensure your decisions and actions contribute to a harassment freeenvironment.
- Do not tolerate any harmful or abusive behaviors; verbally, via text messaging, email or anyotherform of social media (e.g.Facebook).
- Adopt responsible behavior in relation to alcohol anddrugs.
- Do not accept unwanted touching, sexual jokes or inappropriate comments of a sexual nature.
For Players:
- Participate because you enjoy it, not to please parents andcoaches.
- Play by the rules, know therules.
- Participate fairly andsafely.
- Abide by decisions without argument or bad temper. Never argue with an official or an umpire.Ifyou disagree, captains can approach and ask for clarification during a break or at the end ofthegame.
- Co-operate with your coach and otherplayers:
- Verbal abuse of officials or other players, deliberately fouling or provoking an opponentand throwing or damaging equipment is NOT acceptable orpermitted.
- Treat all players as you would like to be treated. Bullying in any form is NOT acceptableortolerated.
- Be a responsible teammember.
- Always be ontime.
- Encourage and assist otherplayers.
- Attend training regularly andconsistently
- Be a good sportsperson and applaud good play by both teams.
- Shake hands at the end of the game.
- Respect and acknowledge the contribution made by the volunteers who create the opportunity for you to play. (administrators, coaches, runners, water carriers, scorers, time keepers, umpires, trainers, primary care persons)
For Parents /Supporters:
- Encourage children to participate and havefun.
- Focus on the children’s efforts and performance rather than winning orlosing.
- Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing acompetition.
- Applaud good performance and efforts by allplayers.
- Respect the umpires and coach’s decisions. For disagreements approach the coach in anon-aggressive manner after the game. Any serious issues approach an executive committeeperson.
- Support your coaches and club officials in maintaining the highest standard ofbehavior.
- Recognize the value and importance of volunteer coaches. Offer your assistance to the teamyourchild is playing in so that every opportunity is being provided for the very best supervisionandsupport. Your involvement will give both yourself and your child far more satisfaction.Coachesalways need assistance with a variety of jobs; team managers, water carriers, runners,scoring,timekeeping, primary care, setting up and packing up ofequipment.
- Children learn by example, be a model of good sports behavior for children tocopy.
For Coaches:
- Treat all players fairly and with respect at all times. Be honest and consistent withthem.
- Provide a healthy safe environment for players. Promote a climate of mutual support amongyourplayers.Encourageplayerstorespectoneanotherandexpectrespectfortheirworthasindividualsregardless of their level ofplay.
- Encourage and facilitate players’ independence and responsibility for their ownbehavior,performance, decisions andactions.
- Refrain from negative comments and any form of personal abuse orharassment.
- Provide training and game opportunities to ensure that everyone has a reasonable chancetosucceed and to improve/acquire skills and developconfidence.
- At all times act as a role model and promote positive aspects of the sport. Be positiveencouraging and supportive at alltimes.
CODE OFCONDUCT:
- All players, parents, supporters, coaches and members must abide by our club’s code ofconduct.
- Ifthereisaproblempleasereportitimmediatelytosomeoneinaposition ofauthority(club executive committee member, coach, groundofficial)
- Report any inappropriate spectator behavior to club president or someone in a positionofauthority.
All Players and Parents please note:
At the discretion of the executive committee of the Huntly Football Netball Club, disciplinary action (as severe as an in-house suspension or expulsion) may/will be implemented, if a player does not follow the code of conduct.
All Junior Players and Parents please note:
In the event of not abiding by the Code of Conduct and if an investigation is enforced by the Bendigo Junior Football League and if the player is found guilty and a fine follows, this fine will be passed on to the player for payment.
