Sunshine Coast 50th Anniversary Cup
We have some wonderful news!
August 2017 is the 50th anniversary of the naming of the Sunshine Coast and to celebrate, the Sunshine Coast Council has organised a few weeks of celebrations.
We’re very proud to say that on August 5th, our Women will be competing for the “Sunshine Coast 50th Anniversary Cup” against University of Queensland and will become an annual event, thanks to SC Council

Another Tragic Loss of a past Roo
Unfortunately we recently lost another well respected member of our Roos family . Peter Boden was tragically taken on Tuesday 24th Jan in a head-on car accident just out of Mackay. His wife Chris miraculously survived but our hearts go our to her, their children Alicia and Max, and grandchildren. During his time at the Roos Pete was a dedicated volunteer and committeeman and will be sadly missed.

Daniel Dzufer, Harry Wilson, Paul Bevan and Daniel Osberger (with guest jockey Margie) put in a magnificent effort to win BOTH Dunny Race events at Aussie World on Australia Day! Beneficiary of the Charity race, The Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program, were thrilled with the result. Knocking off arch rival Caloundra as well as the SC Falcons and the Raynors in the team event was very sweet!

Roos boys return to the Australia Day Dunny Races for the sake of charity
The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program will team up with the Maroochydore Roos Australian Football Club on Australia Day to help win Aussie World’s annual Dunny Race.The football players are lending their muscle to support the local charity win a share of the $2000 in prize money which will go directly to support Sunshine Coast families affected by breast cancer

Fitting Farewell for Roos great, Geoff 'Skipper' Drummond
Previous Roos Captain, President and stalwart of the club, Geoff Drummond, passed away in late December and was given a wonderful send off on the 4th Jan in Maroochydore. R.I.P. Skipper.

Lady Roos into QWAFL Comp for 2017!
MEDIA RELEASE FROM AFL QUEENSLAND
MAROOCHYDORE ROOS JOIN QWAFL
AFL Queensland today advised the Maroochydore Football Club that it has been successful in gaining entry to the Queensland Women’s Australian Football League (QWAFL) for season 2017. The Roos will join existing QWAFL clubs; Wilston Grange, Zillmere, UQ, Yeronga, Coolangatta Tweed and Coorparoo in a new look competition.

Dzufer claims Roos B&F
Daniel Dzufer has capped off a stellar first year with the Roos, claiming the club's Best & Fairest in front of 190 people at Maroochy RSL on Friday night. In a see-sawing count which saw the lead change 6 times, Dzufer's 13 goals in the final round secured the award ahead off Josh Norman in 2nd and last years winner, Jackson Ryan, rounding out the top 3. The Mayne Tigers have turned the tables on the Roos, downing them by 19 points to be the first team to qualify for 2015 QFA North Grand Final. The Roos will now clash with Noosa in both seniors and reserves on Saturday for that final GF berth.

Moods Officially a Legend
A huge congratulations to current Maroochydore Assistant Coach Steve Moody who has been elevated to Sunshine Coast Hall of Fame Legend Status. The man better known as Moods was first inducted in 2010 but was deservedly elevated to 'Legend' on Saturday night. In 45 years of footy on the Coast, he is one of only 10 people to be bestowed the title. Read on for more.

It was a wet Anzac Day clash in 2010 when the Roos Senior squad had last tasted victory against Noosa. They'd had their chances in the five years following but somehow Noosa willed their way to victory in each of the clashes. The Roos have again toppled ladder leaders Mayne with a nailbiting 12 point victory over the flag favourites at Fisherman's Rd on Saturday. Former Lion Dzufer joins Roos for 2015
The Maroochydore Roos have scored a major coup with the signing of former Brisbane Lions listed player and 2013 Redland Best & Fairest Daniel Dzufer.
The key signing comes just weeks after the Roos complimented their coaching department with the appointment of former AFL development manager Andrew Cadzow and Representative coach Steve Moody, both of who are former Maroochydore players themselves.

2014 Player Regos Due
With round 1 on our doorstep, this is just a friendly reminder that 2014 Player Registration fees are now due. Fees and Registrations can be done by clicking on the link on the right of the page or by doing so at the clubhouse before or after training. Prompt payment of fees is imperative to a succesul club and helps pay for goodies such as new footys, strapping tape and, of course, umpires.
