Message from the 2021 PJFC President Daren Vardy
Welcome everyone to the Parkerville Junior Football Club, the home of the Parky Demons!
Due to my son taking on anoher sport I am unable to continue on in my role as president. The club is therefore looking for volunteers to assist in the running of the club throughout the season. Every little bit of assistance will help even if you cannot commit to the time of being president. If you are able to help out in any way possible please email president.parkydemonms@gmail.com.
Established in 1965, our club has developed and grown over the past 50 years into one of the largest clubs within the Perth Hills with members ranging from our catchment areas of Parkerville, Glen Forrest, Hovea, Mahogany Creek and Stoneville… though we are willing to take them all.
In 2020, the club will continue to offer your children the following:
- NAB AFL Auskick (Mixed PP to Year 2) – Saturday mornings;
- Junior Football (Mixed - Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6) – Train Wednesdays, and play predominantly Sunday mornings;
Whilst we passed on our mainstream ‘girls’ licence to the “Hills Rangers” in 2019, we still encourage Junior age girls to play in the junior ‘mixed’ competition with us (mainstream Year 3, 4, 5 or 6), of which, the ‘Rules’ of junior matches are modified, so all children (boys and girls) can continue to develop their skills in an enjoyable, and safe atmosphere. We do not offer this to compete with the mainstream girls, but offer this as a matter of convenience to parents with boy/girl siblings. I encourage any parent with a girl wanting to get into footy to talk to me regarding this.
We have fully accredited AFL Coaches in all Auskick and Junior age groups, and all with multiple years of junior coaching experience. Whilst we have coaches to coach the kids, coaches’ assistants (i.e. parents/carers) are always welcome.
Parkerville Juniors, is the perfect environment for kids to have fun learning through play, make new friends and create memories that last a lifetime. It is also a place for parents/carers to meet new people and become somethingyou may have never thought could be you… e.g. a goal umpire, a water carrier….
The Auskick (Saturday mornings) is for both boys and girls, pre-primary to year 2. It is also for the parents to get involved. It is aligned with the National Auskick program as provided on the National Auskick website… It is the main breeding ground for our Junior teams.
As a Junior Club, our aim is to nurture the football skill development of your child with ‘FUN’ the key ingredient supporting them on their pathway to a Junior Youth competition. Hopefully… some day, we’ll see the children all grown-up, playing on TV for a WAFL / WAFLW team (e.g. Swan Districts), or even AFL or AFLW.
Our club actively promotes Good Sportsmanship at all levels of football and aim to abide by all Player, Coaches, Parent and Spectator Codes of Conduct. We support kids being kids and support only positive sideline behaviour in junior sport.
For 2021, we have a passionate ‘executive’ committee (similar to the past many years (i.e. volunteer parents)) complemented by some hardworking behind the scenes support staff (e.g. merchandise, canteen coordinators etc.) all whom actively support the administrative and financial obligations of the club. Please assist us where you can. All this is to be further complimented by (I’m hoping), the supportive parents of all the kids… So… Come along and join the fantastic community here at Parkerville JFC where everyone is welcome!
For new parents/carers, I encourage you to introduce yourself and your child, and get involved. We look forward to meeting you.
