The CFC had a good day football wise last Saturday, winning across all four grades. Unfortunately injuries continue to take their toll but hopefully we can get back a few players at the right time of year. As a playing group, we need to take the form displayed at Wedderburn into each and every game.
Luke Mulquiny played his 100th Senior match for Charlton. Well done Luke.
10 goals to Joe McGrath was a highlight last week as the Seniors defeated the Redbacks comfortably. Six goals to Cody Gunn and three to Matt Giri saw the three forwards kick 19 between them. Jye Sandiford and Josh Ketterer were both outstanding in the middle while Tom Finlay and Kieran Sait both had good performances.
The reserves ran out comfortable winners against a talented Wedderburn side whose efforts were not reflected in their scoreline. Two season ending injuries soured a good team performance. Matt Noonan had the ball on a string for much of the game while Tyson Watton worked hard in the middle and down back. Marcus Campbell again showed what he is capable of.
The under 16’s accuracy and team work helped them post a big score against the Redbacks and win by a percentage boosting margin. Eight goals to Trent Cossar, seven to Nathaniel Holmes Brown and four to Connor Hooper McKenzie was the result of their team mates decisions to execute the right options and set up the win.
The Under 13’s got the day rolling in a positive manner by defeating Wedderburn by 19 points. Oscar Bourke kicked three goals while Jack Collins and Hugh Sait kicked one apiece. The junior Navies have shown how much they have improved by gaining their fourth win for the season and climbing to 6th on the ladder. Well done boys, the whole club is proud!
