Rd 6 Match Report Vs Boulder
The Colts kicked off and got off to an absolute flyer with Steven Marchese kicking 3 first quarter goals and the boys going in at quarter time trailing by just four points.
Boulder started to take the ascendancy in the second term and by half time had opened up a 6 goal lead. The lads were hurt when Steven Marchese was unable to return to the field after half time having failed the concussion SCAT test.
The loss hurt and together with no interchange, the boys dropped off the pace in the second half. A lot of confidence could be taken out of the best game of the season the boys have played so far.

The Ressies got underway next and were bolstered by the inclusion of Brodie Titchener and Aden Byrne who put their hand up to go back from League to get some more game time. In addition, Adam Jukes returned and played his first game of the season along with Jackson Cooper. Karl Steinhauser also put up his hand to play before his hernia operation.
The addition of some additional players to the mix meant the guys went out and were right in the game throughout. Scores were level half way through the third quarter and unfortunately we lost four players who had to leave due to other commitments at this time. The loss of players certainly hurt and Boulder managed to pull away during the last quarter.

The League side got away and from the outset, it was a tight tussle. Boulder took a slight lead into quarter time and then pulled three goals clear during the second quarter before the boys rallied with the next three goals to pull back to scores level near the end of the quarter.
Unfortunately, a behind the play incident right on half time saw us lose Mitch Cloughessy to a red card and the ensuing melee that resulted in the aftermath saw us lose Blake Chant to a red card also. Boulder lost Brandon George to a red card also, however we were forced to play the first 15 minutes of the third quarter with 16 players to Boulders 17 on the ground.
This was always going to test the players resolve and mental will power as we also had Adam Jukes stepping up to back up his effort in the Reserves to cover the loss of Steven Marchese and Keiran Johnstone Brennan also playing his second game after a game of Colts.
Boulder skipped away to a 25 point lead during this period, but the boys fought pretty hard to keep it to that level. A goal to Monster Murphy just before three quarter time reduced the margin to 19 points going into three quarter time.
A massive effort was asked of the guys during the last quarter and they delivered on cue. A goal within the first minute of the quarter followed by another 2 minutes later had reduced the margin to a kick and the boys were definitely up and about. An absolute dominant quarter saw the ball rarely venture into Boulder's half and when it did, it couldn't get passed Luke Dunham at CHB who marked and repelled every attack coming his way. Dylan Titchener went nuts racking up the disposals and clearances and after a dirty first three quarters, our vice captain Steve Simpson turned his game around to get plenty of it including getting on the end of a Keiran Johnstone Brennan pass to kick the match sealing goal. A 4.5 to 0.1 last quarter saw the guys bring home a 9 point victory and the noise from the trusty Kambalda faithful would have you thinking the game was being played in Kambalda.

A number of other notable performances were that of Doc Hibberd on the wing, Jackson Milker and Damian Kefford in defence, Ryan McNally who played out the game after badly injuring his shoulder in the third quarter due to being down to two on the bench and Adam Jukes who kept coming to the bench during the third and fourth quarters barely breathing after playing 8 quarters of footy for the day.
