Match Report Rd 4 Vs Kangas
Again, the Colts got us underway and had the daunting task of coming up against the reigning premiers Kalgoorlie who the week previously easily accounted for Railways to the tune of 10 goals.'
But in true Kambalda spirit, the lads took to the field and gave it their all with the many underage players stepping up. It is going to be a long season for the kids. But Paps is doing everything the right way and we know the benefits will be seen in two years time when the same team are all still playing together. For now, the kids are being encouraged to get out there and enjoy competing and forget about the scoreboard. They will learn a lot during their development this season.

The Ressies were up next and you have to feel for the big fella Monster Murphy. The decimation to the League team due to injuries and work commitments has been compounded by his own injuries to a number of Ressies players and the work commitments of those players also. A mad rush at the end to put a team on the park meant scooping Peter Daly Jnr from the crowd, getting some paperwork filled in and getting him into a kit to run out and make up the 14 required thanks to a number of the Colts also stepping up. Even with the lack of numbers and fact most guys were pulled in with no training for the season, there was no doubting the endeavor the guys showed on the day.

The League game was a particularly frustrating scoreline, given the periods in which Kambalda dominated play. Constant forward entries and failure to convert and add scoreboard pressure would result in the Kangas taking the ball the length of the ground and kicking a goal. This happened on a number of occasions and the inside 50's in the first half were proof in the pudding of a failure to convert the dominance into scoreboard pressure. 26 inside 50's for 1.5 compared with Kangas 16 inside 50's for 8.1
The second half took a similar pattern and the inefficiency to convert and capatalise was the main reason the scoreline finished so lopsided. If you weren't there, you wouldn't believe we had more 4 inside 50's more over the duration of the game going by the scoreboard. The most pleasing thing however, was the fact the players took a lot of belief out of this effort against the undefeated reigning premiers and with 8 first choice players out of the side, the pressure to retain spots is finally heating up. This is a pressure that is foreign to many who have been walk up starts for a while and haven't had to train hard or earn their position in the League team. There is a hell of a lot of up side at the moment and expect to see some good wins put on the board very soon.

Thanks to everyone who hung around and supported the Players Auction at the end of the night. Everyone in attendance had a fantastic night and it was a huge success for the club. A grand total of $11780 was bid on the players which means $2980 was raised for the club and $8800 went into the prize kitty. Who purchased who and for how much along with the prize amounts will be published on here very soon.
