Working with Children Check
How to obtain a WWC Number
Coaches, Managers and other persons (aged 18+) working or volunteering with children (under 18) must now apply for a Working with Children Check, obtain a WWC Number and provide their WWC Number to their club. This is a NSW Government requirement.
Exemptions
The following are exempt from the WWC Check requirements:
- Children under 18 years
- Volunteer parent who only coaches or manages their own child's team
- Volunteer who only coaches their own close relative's team (see definition)
- Referees
- Canteen managers, workers and caterers.
- Grounds persons
Definition: 'Close Relative' Spouse or de facto partner of the person; or a child, step-child, sibling, step-sibling, parent, step-parents, grandparent, step-grandparent, aunt, uncle, niece or nephew of the person.
Application Process
- Complete the WWC Check application form on-line & receive your APP Number.
- Take your Application (APP) number, proof of ID and $80 to a Motor Registry. There is no fee for volunteers.
- The Motor Registry will issue you with a a receipt.
- You should receive your WWC Number by email within approximately 10 days.
- You then provide your WWC Number to your club.
