New Coaching Team for the Zebras
The Sandringham Zebras have recruited key members to their Coaching Panel for Season 2012.
Simon McPhee has been employed for the next two years as Sandringham’s Senior Coach. McPhee will also be involved in the recently developed St Kilda Player Academy.
Sandringham is thrilled with the recruitment of McPhee as he possesses a vast amount of experience, including coaching Claremont Football Club to WAFL Premiership last year.
The Zebras have also taken on a new coach for their Development Squad.
Paul Kennedy will be working closely with McPhee to develop the games of many up and coming footballers they have on their list.
Kennedy holds an impressive coaching background, having recently led the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League interleague side to a win over Ovens and Murray.
Paul has also recorded a notable playing history. He played TAC Cup with the Dandenong Stingrays, AFL reserves with Fitzroy, VFL Football with Frankston and represented QAFL clubs Morningside and Mt Gravatt before finishing his career at Seaford.
The club has attracted an array of former AFL players to the club this season, and looked to have bolstered their experience. Dowler will add strength to their backline after playing in Noble Parks premiership team last year in the EFL, whilst the likes of Cook, Cockie and Shephard have impressed in the preseason.
Club’s Comments:
At Sandy we are tracking pretty well. We are pretty happy with the young squad and how we are playing but we understand we are still a fair way off where we need to be. Some of the new players that have arrived have had a positive impact and there are a few young players coming through from the Dragons that are also progressing well. We are very excited at the coming year ahead – Simon McPhee, Senior Coach - Sandringham.
“Recruiting has been as strong as we have had in a number of years....Also our coaching structure is looking fantastic and the relationship with St Kilda is really prospering so we feel really confident of a good season,” Lucas Blatman said.
