BMBA Representative Basketball 2025 - What you need to know....

BMBA intends to facilitate a number of Representative teams for the 2025 season. For those unfamiliar with the concept of Rep basketball, associations put forward their best players from relevant divisions and those players form Representative teams. These teams then play against other associations' Representative teams over the Summer season.

In 2025 BMBA is aiming to enter both boys and girls teams in the U12, U14 and U16 divisions.

Age divisions clarified: U12 - Kids born: 2014, 2015 U14 - Kids born: 2012, 2013 U16 - Kids born: 2010, 2011

Open trials will be held over two consecutive Sundays (1st and 8th of Sept) running from 8am. A number players will then be selected for a further trial on Sunday 15th Sept and teams announced at the completion of these trials. Relevant time slots: U12s 8am - 9:15am U14s 9:30am -10:45am U16s 11am - 12:15 Cost of attending the trials will be: $20 to be paid in advance (email to come with payment details closer to the date).

Training will start Week 1, Term 4. Each team will train twice a week at various locations in the upper Blue Mountains.

Expectations for Families Involved: Representative Basketball requires a significant commitment from the families of participating children, which needs to be considered, ahead of try-outs.

Cost: Approximately $700-$1000 (court booking fees, uniforms, competition entry costs) + additional travel/ accommodation expenses.

Training: Teams will train twice per week for Term 4 (2024) and Term 1 (2025).

Team management: A parent or group of parents/carers will be required to manage the team their child participates in. Game Day Coaching: A parent or group of parents/carers will need to coach on game days/ weekends.

Training Sessions: A parent or group of parents/carers will need to coach the 2 training sessions per week.

Travel: Parents/ carers will need to facilitate travel for their child to and from each Representative round. This may include traveling as far as Narrandera and Griffith and staying for whole weekends.

Benching Obligations: Every child must have a parent /carer who can do bench (on a roster system) for each Representative round.

Additional Information re; Coaches. Training Coaches and Game Day coaches for each team will need to come from within our BMBA community / team parents/ carers. These are volunteer positions. If we can't find coaches for each team, we may not be able to proceed with all age divisions.
