2021 Season Review
It is with a heavy heart that on behalf of the HCCF Management Committee we now notify all Clubs, Players and Officials that the 2021 season is now officially completed. As a result of the current lockdown and the NSW Health Orders in place the playing of our finals series is not possible. It is not how we hoped the season would end, as much as it seemed inevitable for the past few weeks, we held out deciding on the off chance there was a change in the current conditions, though unfortunately those changes were not forthcoming. The Management Committee has now met by Zoom and finalised the results of the matches which were outstanding and finalised the premiership ladders for the 2021 season.
On behalf of the MC and I’m sure all involved with HCCF we would like to pass our Congratulations to Our 2021 HCCF Premiers who are as follows:
W-League 1 | Thrive Church |
W-League 2 | Hamilton Baptist |
Division 1 | New Vine Maryland |
Division 2 | New Vine Lakes |
Division 3 | Maitland Baptist |
Division 4 | Grace Presbyterian |
Division 5 | Hunter Christian Church |
Division 6 | New Vine Maryland |
As a result of the final series being unable to be played, sadly no Champions will be awarded as per the HCCF Standing Orders. In the coming days we will make an official announcement of both the 2021 Club Champions (Minor and Major) and the winner of the 2021 Roy and Helen Fitzsimmons Best and fairest award. Please be sure to keep an eye out for this announcement.
Once again, the 2021 HCCF season proved to be another one which continually threw challenges at the MC and allowed us all to continue learning ways to keep HCCF moving forward and fulfilling our goal of ‘For God through Sport’. Upon reflection we feel very lucky to have been able to complete as much of the premiership season as we did in the current climate dealing with Covid-19. It could be seen from the very first game that kicked off this year, how happy and grateful our members were to be able to get back out on the field. The lessons learnt last year certainly did help us as an association of ensuring all involved were on the same page and willing to do what was required for HCCF to have a successful season. Although we have been unable to play the finals, we still managed to play more games than 2020, and provided a great outlet for many to not only enjoy the fellowship of their own club\team but also with the other members of HCCF.
A highlight of 2021 was the playing of representative football again this season and HCCF not only winning the Steel City Challenge against Illawarra, but also the NSW Country titles on the Central Coast going through undefeated. It is also exciting to see the things put in place for the growth of Representative football into the future. Congratulations to all players and managers involved in our Representative football, with a special thanks to Nathan Baker for his commitment and passion for representative football. I personally can’t wait to see what comes of the seeds we have planted this year to see Christian Football grow in the years to come.
The MC would once again like to say a huge thanks to all clubs, players, managers, and officials for making the 2021 season another great one for Hunter Christian Churches Football. It was great to see you players continually turn up each week and play the game in the true spirit of Christian Football. We continue to pray that all players and Churches have been blessed by their participation within the HCCF competition.
We also would like to say thanks to the HCCF referees for their contribution in seeing games played out as smoothly as possible each week. I would also like to say a huge thanks to our HCCF management committee, who put in countless hours of their time and energy, week after week to keep our competition going. The MC is always trying to make our competition the absolute best it can be and looking for ways to improve. The continued passion shown by this group for HCCF certainly helps our association year after year. As I have stated previously, I personally feel blessed to be entrusted with the role of HCCF President and to lead such a committed and passionate team. Such is the passion of this group that plans are already being put into place for us to continue meeting up however that may be, either in Person or by Zoom to ensure that HCCF continues to grow and provide opportunities for people to know Gods love for them.
We will put together an online survey again this year and ask everyone to take the time to complete this honestly and looking at the big picture. As in previous years, this feedback helps with future planning and allows us to consider improvements that can be made.
Finally, please continue to be in prayer for each other during these difficult times, reach out to team mates however that may be possible whether by sending a SMS, having a Video Chat or phone call, and eventually in person when possible. Also, once again we ask that HCCF be held up in your prayers as we seek to continue bringing honour to God through the ministry of football.
God Bless,
HCCF Management Committee
