AFL Victoria has confirmed a new player point system will be introduced in 2016 with a salary cap system in 2017. The PPS is an AFL Vic state-wide initiative. There is a cap whereby no team in Victoria is permitted to have more than 50 points.
All clubs in the EDFL have been allocated between 39 to 50 points based on the ladder position in the seniors and games won in 2015. All clubs were made aware of their team points the memo attached from AFL Gippsland earlier in the month that detailed all the team points for every club in each Gippsland league. All players are rated between 1 and 6 points. The team cap is only based on the accumulated value of the 21 players to take the field in the senior game. Clubs are required to update their individual player scores in sporting pulse based on the AFL Vic PPS policy guidelines which have been circulated to all clubs. The idea behind the scheme is to equalise all competitions within the state and clubs that retain their players will be rewarded over time.
