Great way to start our 2019 season with wins in the Seniors and under 19s while the Reserves went down by a couple of goals out at Scoresby
Under 19s kicked started the day with a solid win over the young Magpies, although our goal kicking left a little to be desired kicking 9 - 19. Powson booted 4 majors with Valle, Hopkins, Richardson, Tommy Stingell, Heywood and Prout all named in the best.
Reserves never really got going, beaten by 14 points in a low scoring affair. Jackson Hallo with 3 Majors was also named best along with Pavey, Lucas, Ferlazzo, Blanche and Lee.
Seniors Started slowly and trailed by 11 points at half time but a 7 to 3 goal second half got the job done. Senior Coach Neil Winterton turned back the clock with a stellar performance, with Cherry, MacArtney, Will Gordon, Dewacht, and Carroll all named in the best. Brett Dewacht with 3 led the Goal kickers along with Parente 2
Under 19s Coach Report
In the opening game of the 2019 season, our U19 boys claimed their first win with a 6 goal victory over Scoresby. Kicking with the wind in the 1st Qtr we kicked an inaccurate 2 goals 8 to lead by 8 points at the first change .Scoresby kicked 2 goals in the 2nd Qtr, but 1 goal 5 into the breeze allowed us to maintain a 1/2 time margin of 5 points. Some good work in front of goal allowed our lead to grow as we kicked 3 goals to 1 during the 3rd Qtr, with the boys saving their best work for the last Qtr with us kicking a further 3 goals 3. A great first up effort from the entire team, who have welcomed a number new players into our squad and worked very hard during the pre season.
Best Players
Josh Valle, Tom Stingell, Josh Hopkins, Brad Heywood, Lochie Richardson and Harry Prout.

Reserves Coach Report
Good day for footy round 1 and everyone was pumped, unfortunately we didn’t get the win and went down by 14pts. Always disappointing to lose a game of footy especially when we played poorly with only showing glimpses of what we know we can do, to Scoresby’s credit they played a solid 4 qtr game. With a 4 goal to 1 first qtr we struggled with our structures and decision making, we dominated the 2nd qtr with no return and in the 2nd half we managed to outscore them but couldn’t get enough momentum and we didn’t take our chances. Our best was Jackson Hallo who kicked 3 and got his hands on it out of the middle, Mitch Pavey, Tom Lucas and Blake Lee also we’re very good. Our group have to respond this week at home and I’m confident we will as we know that yesterday wasn’t anywhere near our best.
Thanks to all the supporters who came down

Senior Coach Report
After a big pre season and some good practice match form the boys were excited heading into round 1. We kicked off the season against Scoresby away where they are always tough to beat.
We kicked with the aid of the breeze in the first quarter but started slowly with some poor skill errors and our defensive work not up to the required levels, allowing Scoresby to gain the ascendency and take a 3 point lead into ¼ time.
The 2nd quarter was a little better but again our skill level particularly going inside forward 50 let us down and Scoresby were able to extend the lead out to 11 points.
In the 3rd quarter we lifted our defensive pressure and begun to move the ball with more fluency and closed the gap to 1 point at ¾ time.
We faced the task of coming from behind against the breeze in the last quarter which is always tough, to the boys credit we maintained our pressure around the footy and finished full of running to come away with a 20 point win.
Jesse Cherry was outstanding all day through the midfield and Will Gordon gave our midfielders first usage right throughout the day.
Thanks to everyone who came out to support us, we wouldn’t have got across the line without your help.
