2018 EFNC Presentation Night
Friday October 5 provided the opportunity for all at Euroa Football Netball Club to celebrate another year in football and netball. With well over 150 in attendance (indeed, many thanks to those who missed out on a gourmet pie from Fare Enough but were accommodated at last minute by the swift thinking of canteen Manager Katrina Mason and of course the excellent service from those at Stasia’s Place.
President Scott Watson welcomed all to the evening, outlining the format for the night and offering a moment for all to pause and remember those whom we had lost in the past twelve months (may they all Rest In Peace) and reflect on how lucky we are to be involved in this club. It was worthy to note also that despite the enormous crowd in attendance quite a number of apologies were received for the night itself from players, their families, supporters, members and sponsors.
The under 18 football team had their votes counted first with the results as follows:

Runner Best & Fairest – Jake Penman

It is pertinent here to acknowledge the many sponsors and trophy donors that help provide the club with their support to award the individual honours across the three grades of football and five grades of netball throughout the night. The Mills Family, Xavier and Sue Thomson, Joy, Barb and Lindy Hewlett and the Hewlett family, the Bjorksten family, Life Members, the Currie Family and the Billman Family.
The first of the netball grades were then counted - the following outcomes and trophies going out to the playing group for the first time as season 2018 was the inaugural year of the under 15 netball competition in the Goulburn Valley League.

Further club awards for season 2018 were made with acknowledgements for the Saturday Canteen Manager Katrina Mason, the Thursday Night Ladies of a Lyndel Burke, Amy Mackrell, Dee Hines and Sally Redfern. Players also presented awards to the many team facing volunteers (trainers – headed up by Tammy Kloot, runners, timekeepers, team managers, water carriers, goal umpires, etc....).
This section of the evening also saw the coveted Best Club-Person award for season 2018 - this went to Lyndel Burke for her tireless leadership and efforts in and around the club with particular emphasis on Thursday night dinners, serving in excess of 70 patrons on a weekly basis.
The Basil Bruce ‘Spirit of Magpie’ award was gratefully received by Lauren, Justin and Jye Bjorksten and Charley White. With the tragic loss of Riley only 11 months ago, the determination, courage and presence of these four individuals at the club was a real catalyst for many others in their efforts to see the club succeed throughout the year.
Finally, in this section of the night, a Life Membership was bestowed on Tony Brodie. ‘Stabber’ was delighted to receive this award. Tony thanked the club for such an honour, acknowledged the support of two of his close mates Michael Tehan and Mick Peel who were present on the night. Tony’s record - as best as able to be researched - is as follows:

Next it was time to celebrate the clubs grand finalists - the Reserve Grade football team. The votes were very evenly spread until half way through the season when the ‘Badger’ Zac Gleeson took hold of the situation, polling an almost unthinkable amount of best on ground efforts as this team steamed its way towards an appointment on Grand Final day. Results were as follows:

The defending duo of Ben Harrison and Adrian Karatzsas eventually saluted after round 18 – only a few of votes separating them. The final award of the evening was the inaugural Ryley Bjorksten Rising Star award – Lauren, Justin, Jye and Charley presented the award with Lauren bravely drawing on her inner strength to speak so well of how much football meant to Ryley and the significance of this award for the family. The response from recipient Andrew Crosbie was heartfelt and very well received.
