Presidents Message re COVID-19 #5 - 10 June 2020
To all NCFNC Players, Coaches, Members, Sponsors and Supporters.
We hope everyone is doing well and keeping healthy.
As you may would have seen yesterday, AFL Barwon have made the decision to cancel the GFNL senior football and netball 2020 Premiership season.
We have attached the statements, which give some clarity to the reasons. Please see below part of the statement that was made to the clubs this afternoon:
To confirm, this decision has been made in the best interest of ALL clubs across the GFNL and BFNL and is directly related to senior football and netball home and away (Premiership) seasons. As mentioned in the statements, AFL Barwon’s intention does remain to return to play, by providing alternative competition models in a modified format for both senior football and netball in the GFNL and BFNL and conducting junior football, junior netball, and Senior Female Football competitions in 2020. It is AFL Barwon’s belief that all players should be given the opportunity to play in some capacity safely if they opt to do so with the support of their club.
As stated, still expect junior competition to be played this year, albeit in a modified format, and will keep you updated as more details arise.
It has been fantastic to see football training back at the club and cannot stress the importance of continuing to be compliant with the club’s COVID-19 protocols, as attached.
We will continually update these based on any changes passed down by the State Government, Netball Victoria, AFL VIC, and AFL Barwon.
If you have any queries, please contact myself on 0419 34 22 10, Wendy Castle (Netball President) or Craig Morrissey.
