Covid-19 update - BBI Season 2020

Hello Everyone,

Hope you and your family are staying safe and sane.

Just wanted to give everyone an update on what's happening.

There is a club delagates meeting with BBI this week so hopefully we will have some sort of confirmation of dates and/or proposed plans. Once BBI have confirmation starting dates for the Championship season we will most definitely let you know.

The committee will also need to discuss access to training facilities with the PCYC and the respective schools we train at about the court availability and conditions.

While it looks like we have turned the corner we are still a number of weeks away from playing.  I know we all want to get back on court ASAP but we can't rush the returning process.  We have to do this with level heads, as if we rush back to soon we could end up back at square one and the possibility for a longer timeframe to get back playing.

The committee would like to Thank our club players and their families for their understanding and patience.

Please see below for the latest update from BBI.

The good news is that as a country and state, there seems to be clearer direction on the reduction of restrictions. Although, there are still some gray arears that need to be clarified as I'm sure you'll agree.

One such gray area - that all indoor sports are seeking clarification from the QLD Govt on,

is for the May 15 to June 11 period (Stage One). Specifically, whether during that time period there

A) continues to be a complete ban on indoor sporting activities OR B) whether small groups (of 4-5) can meet once per week for (30-40mins) with no contact or sharing of equipment.

In addition to this query BQ are also working through how this road map impacts their plans for State Championships in the July School Holidays. Remembering BQ aren't meeting with Associations until May 22nd regarding State Championships (and hopefully clarify on what 2020/2021 season might look like also). I am hopeful with thisnew information, BQ can make an early determination on State Championships for July, and we can get an idea of a possbile third(and fourth, in the case of U16's) contingency options.

Thank you and stay safe everyone

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
