Delivered by the Queensland Government, in partnership with the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games’ (GC2018) Legacy Program, the Sport and Recreation Conferences – plan, prepare, perform will be held across Queensland to help provide industry professionals with the latest information and trends in sport and recreation, and volunteers with training in core club management topics.

Through Building Active Community Workshops, day two provides training within two critical organisational development fields:
Governance – role of the Board and board members
Governance – financial management: analysing financial reports and budgets
Facility Management – maintenance planning and management

Keynote speaker Wayne Goldsmith is one of the sport sector's most influential and creative minds.Over the past 25 years Wayne has worked with some of Australia’s most successful organisations and sporting teams and is considered one of the industry’s leading high performance consultants. Jo-Ann Foo from Nielsen Sports, will provide valuable insight on the rise of recreation. Nielsen Sports is a global leader and trusted advisor in sports intelligence, analytics and insights offering the most reliable source of independent and holistic data. Nielsen's understanding of consumer behaviour provides decision-makers with smart data and advice to better understand and connect with their local market and continue to grow. Carolyn Grant will provide a straight-forward introduction to financial statements and tips for measuring both the financial position and sustainability of your organisation through the Governance training on day two. Carolyn has over 20 years experience across financial governance, journalism, marketing and public relations and is an Australian Institute of Company Directors graduate.
