Week In Review

On another weekend of mixed results for our teams, it was the cap 4s who led the way with a convincing 3-0 home victory against Kangaroo Point Rovers. We came out of the blocks very quickly with Aaron and Ami having gilt-edged chances before Aaron put us ahead with a well measured strike from an angle.

The match was effectively put to bed with two relatively early goals in the second half, both scored by Ami, the latter a penalty after a crude foul on Manjot. Congratulations to the team on a win against a team ahead of us on the ladder and for keeping a clean sheet for the first time all year (defenders Raj, Christian, Jagveer, Navraj and keeper Jason take a bow).

The reserves suffered an unlucky 3-2 defeat, not helped it must be said by some sub-standard refereeing. Although the better team, even when down to 10 men, we were also left to rue missed opportunities. Our goals were scored by Elliott (classy one on one finish) and Justin (a rebound from a missed penalty), the latter of whom celebrated like he'd scored the winning goal inan FA cup final! Love your passion Justin!

The women's div 5 team tested Coach Greg's nerves once again with yet more profligacy in front of goal but also showed great character to rebound from being 3-2 down to draw 3-3 in an entertaining game away to Annerley. Amy scored a first half brace while Filipa scored the important equalising goal deep into the second half and what a goal it was. After beating a couple of players, she took aim she took aim from the edge of the box and struck the ball into the top left hand corner of the goal.

The men's city div 4 side rounded off the weekend with a 1-1 home draw against Virginia. Andreas scored early for us but his goal was cancelled out before half-time. The match turned into an arm wrestle thereafter, with a draw probably a fair result.
