Bulls training kicks off

The Mareeba Bulls return to the pitch this Tuesday night to begin preparations for the 2014 season, which includes up to six pieces of silverware up for grabs.

The Bulls head into the season looking to go one better after finishing second in three separate competitions in 2013, with hard work, preparation and commitment the keys according to coach Alex Srhoj if the Mareeba boys are to bring home some silverware this season.

“last year was outstanding, it was a great effort from the entire club, but unfortunately does not mean anything unless we are prepared to turn up and work hard for each and lay the platform now for a strong 2014’, Srhoj stated.

The Bulls will have the opportunity to participate in the new FFA cup which is national cup competition which if the Bulls are successful will possibly give the Mareeba club the opportunity to take on the state league team and then the A-league clubs, in a knock-out style format. “Of-course it is pretty exciting, it is a great opportunity, we will definitely make sure we give ourselves every chance possible to go as far in the competition as possible, who knows, may even host the Roar right here at Borzi” Srhoj stated.

As well as the new FFA cup, the Bulls will participate in the annual Mareeba Mazda cup set down for the 22nd march, the FNQ premier league and also the second season of the local Sportscene FNQ Cup, the Bulls last season lost the Mazda Cup 1-0 in the final, lost the FNQ Cup 1-0 in the final and lost the premiership by 6 goals, having come so close, Srhoj has stated it does ad some motivation, but they will not be focusing on last season but instead looking forward to the year ahead.

“Ofcourse it is going to be mentioned from time to time, but last year counts for nothing now, It is not going to give us a head start this year, so we have to focus even more on the little things that make such a big difference, but I am confident with the players returning and a few new faces possibly turning up, we will defiantly work hard to give us every chance possible. “ stated Srhoj.

The Bulls will start training Tuesday 21st Jan at Borzi Park from 7pm, all new and old players are welcome to attend.
