Female Football Week 2-12 May

NSW Football: Female Football Week

Continuing the proud tradition of an annual celebration of womens football, Football NSW has a memorable week ahead to promote the World Game across the state.

2015 has been another year of growth, accentuated by record amounts of female participation in NSW. There are 48,000 registered players, 1374 coaches, 524 referees and 5,500 volunteers behind the game in NSW this year. Now  with new disability programs and the success of the Matilda and junior Matilda squads, women's football in NSW is looking as strong and healthy as ever.

This year the excitement peaks across several days and at several different locations. A highlight will be the Westfield Matilda's open training session at the new, and highly anticipated Valentine Sports Park facilities. The Womens FIFA World Cup in Canada is almost upon us, so this is a fantastic opportunity to catch our National Womens team before they embark on their quest of world dominance.

The date? May the 7th at 5pm. There will be photo and signing opportunities, so bring your gear.

The Matildas will also be in action ONE LAST TIME before they head to Canada for their first game on June 8th against the USA. Scheduled at Jubilee Oval, our Matildas will host the Vietnamese National team as a farewell for the fans before their World Cup departure. The date to mark is Thursday 21st May and kick-off is at 6:30pm, so gather some friends and family, get there early and let the Matildas know they go to Canada with our support and all our belief.

Remember ALL Matilda matches will be broadcasted LIVE on SBS ONE.

This week is for the women and the girls involved in Football and to further develop the opportunities available to you and future participants of the World Game.
