Last Week Was a BIG today for the Mitcham Footy Club last week as we hosted Doncaster East at home. Day kicked off early with a packed Presidents lunch as the Suburban Footballer had the Crowd in fits of laughter and Four-time premiership player and Norm Smith Medallist Cyril Rioli won plenty of fans as he too entertained the crowd and got around all those in attendance. Congratulations to Junior President Craig Giles who was presented with a Bendigo bank service to football award by EFL CEO Phil Murton. On field a very undermanned reserves recorded a memorable victory against Donny East and the seniors fought hard against a Donny East side that looks set to play a major role come finals time but came up short.
NEXT WEEK We Make the trip to the foot of the Yarra valley to take on Lilydale on the bowling alley, hopefully some players return from injury, but if not the effort of late has been beyond reproach so nothing short of that effort with suffice Saturday. Then after a drink with the Falcons after the game its back to The MCG of the East for the iPod shuffle. $10 entry (girls free), your choice of tracks- $10 per song. Prizes to be won, cheap drinks all night, a shot bar up and running and with a hot hot dance floor, this is one night not to be missed, pop in for a drink or stay the night ALL WELCOME. GOOD LUCK to our junior sides that battle for grand final berths this weekend and those that battle to stay alive

Reserves Coaches Report
Brave and tough from my guys this week, undermanned to the point of having no bench to start the game then finishing with 17 in the last qtr our effort was outstanding to get the points in very difficult conditions. We started well with voice and pressure to hold them goal less kicking with the wind, we were smart with our control of the footy and we slowed the play when required. The message at qtr time was not to change our system even though we had the breeze, again we were smart and used the footy well to kick away and lead at the big break by 3 goals. They kicked a couple with wind in the 3rd but we mostly held them at bay with our back 6 being terrific. In the last we dominated the play with multiple forward entries to kick away and get the win! Mikey was super again with 4 goals, Menz & Tsolos also crashed in all day giving us 1st use, but all in all our even contribution across 4 quarters was the difference, I couldn’t have been prouder of the boys. The support was awesome again so thanks to everyone.

Senior Coaches Report
This week we were back at home for the tough assignment against the 2nd place Doncaster East. 2 more players made their senior debut for the club with Marty DeLuca and Julian Ramboldi earning the call up this week. In howling conditions which made it tough for footy we went in with a real one on one mindset wanting to make sure we didn't allow them any time and space as they are a very dangerous outfit when afforded that luxury. We kicked with the aid of the breeze in the first quarter but didn't take full advantage holding a 7 point margin at the break. In the 2nd quarter we closed the game and restricted their ability to score until late in the quarter when we conceded 3 late goals including 1 after the siren to go into the main break with a 14 point deficit. At the start of the 3rd quarter Doncaster East got on top gaining the ascendancy through the midfield kicking the first 3 goals of the quarter to skip out to a handy lead, we responded well and managed to close the gap back to 20 points at 3/4 time. In the last quarter their class began to shine through and they ended up coming away with a 48 point margin. Tom Lucas did a super job restricting their captains output and Jake Toohey backed up his good game from last week. Thanks to everyone who attended the presidents lunch it was a great turn out and we certainly appreciate all your support.
