With another 5 changes to the senior team this week, plus losing the coach on game day didn’t help the cause against Wanny South at home this week but in true Mitcham spirit we battled on gamely. The under 19s also feeling the pinch injury wise kicked started the day with a solid win, The reserves saw a couple of Stalwarts help out and while beaten on the score board put in a great effort to restrict Sth to only 12 goals. The seniors with a couple of debutants in Mitchell Holzheimer and Adam Dale had their chances early but failed to put it on the score board allowing the devils to gain the upper hand. A nine goal loss by games end had has licking our wounds but with some players returning in the coming weeks should see us return to our early season form. Congratulations to Daniel Johnson and James Halstead on their respective milestones today with DJ playing his 150th game and Jimmy his 100th game. Both boys are premiership players with the club and their loyalty and service to the club has been UN questionable. You couldn’t wish to meet a couple of better fella’s
NEXT WEEK we welcome another club we haven’t played for a number of years in Bayswater to the MCG of the East Lets make sure we get the tiger army out in full force and support the boys.
On the social front The Mitcham Football Club comedy night looms large headlined by The Nelson Twins - The most unique stand-up comedy act in the world, backed up by NOT one but two of Australia’s Best local funny men. MAKE SURE you save the date Saturday 4th of June for a night of riotous laughter
Under 19s Coaches Report
A much better performance for our boys on the weekend against Wantirna South. The inclusion of a number of players definitely helped our cause after some significant injuries in the first few weeks. Getting off to a decent start seems to be the key to success in Division 2 so we made that our focus pre game. Our intensity was much higher than previous weeks and our ability to utilise our key forwards enabled us to put enough pressure on our opposition to get the required result. Josh Kable, Ryan Sullivan and Tom Lucas were outstanding in the middle while our back six were solid all day and provided plenty of run from half back. Sam Howell, Vinny Meagher and Tom Lucas all contributed up forward when it mattered but it was pleasing to have an even contribution all over the ground in what was a good solid win. The bye this week comes at a perfect time with several players becoming available for Round 5. Good luck to the Senior sides this week, hopefully both will bounce back and get in the winners list again quickly!

Reserves Coaches Report
Difficult day on Saturday for us playing against a very good side who was undefeated. Unfortunately the nature of Ressies footy hit us hard with 8 changes from last weeks side which meant we only had 3 on the bench for the day with Lloyd and Q helping us out. Our plan however was not going to change as we wanted to continue to take the game on however we fell short when it came to execution of our skills and when you play a quality line up they will capitalise and they did. There ball movement and clearance work was too good for our young mid field but it was great to see our blokes have a real crack and it was also an opportunity for most to play roles that would normally not get a chance too, our endeavour I can't question as we stuck at it all day. Thanks to all that helped out this week, training will be very important as we have plenty to work on for this Saturday.
Senior Coaches Report
This week due to a number of injuries and illnesses we took a relatively inexperienced lineup in to our clash with Wantirna Sth. If gave some guys an opportunity to play in some roles that they usually wouldn't. We started the game against the breeze and conceded 3 early goals but bounced back strongly to only trail by 13 points. After kicking the first 2 goals of the 2nd quarter to hit the front we got out played for the rest of the quarter and went into half time down by 18 points after conceding a goal after the siren. The 3rd quarter was a pretty even affair for the first 20 minutes as we stayed in touch but unfortunately were unable to finish the quarter off as we conceded 5 late goals. The last quarter was even and given that we only had 2 on the bench in the 2nd half and no one on the bench in the last quarter it was an admirable effort. Congratulations to Mitch Holzheimer on playing his first senior game, also to Adam Dale on his first senior game although he unfortunately got injured during the 2nd quarter. Jayke Murray was fantastic all day in first senior game for the season, Jackson Glossop really led from the front in his first game as captain of the club and Tommy Miles tried his guts out all day. Hopefully with a bit of luck we can get some experience back into the side next week. Thanks to all the supporters who came out last week, hopefully we see you all again next week.
