With Practise matches only a few weeks away the boys have been hitting the track hard in preparation for the 2016 season. While we farewell a couple of club legends after premiership success in 2015, the club has added some real quality to the list and with some young talent really pushing hard for senior opportunities its exciting times to be around the Tigers. See below to what the coach has to say
Senior Coach Pre Season up date
With the club stepping up into division 2 this year we knew we had to lift our intensity and work rate at training to best prepare ourselves for the higher competition we are facing this year. To the boys credit they have fully embraced the challenge and have worked extremely hard with a number of players lifting there fitness levels from last year, Rob Petracca and Aaron Menzies have really stepped up and have led the way in this area.
It has also been very exciting to see a number of our new recruits on the track and give us a glimpse of what they can offer us this year. Jake Toohey has been right up the front in all our fitness stuff, he is a smooth mover who uses the ball really well by foot. Tyson McKenzie who we were familiar with from playing against him last year, has added some really good leadership to go along with the quality that he brings to the field. Mitch Keedle oozes class, he is never rushed and always uses the ball well by foot. Jarrad Elton has shown us that for a ruckmen who is over 200cm tall he moves really well and has great skills will be a huge bonus. Steve Naylor has already proved that he is a real competitor and he is going to be a vital cog in our backline. Tom Miles has brought with him his elite VFL endurance and skill and will be one of the best mids in divvy 2, add to that a number of our younger boys who are looking for Senior opportunities, plus our under 19s are in really good shape, I am genuinely excited about what we as a club can achieve in 2016.
With practice matches only a few weeks away I know the boys are looking forward to getting out on the field and getting the season started and I look forward to seeing the Mitcham Faithfull out and about supporting the team #strongandbold
