Marcus Hottes has capped off another dynamic season at Olinda-Ferny Creek winning his second Michael Scott Medal best player award.
Krista Tomlinson also put her stamp on a stunning A Grade year with victory in the Alma Fowler Medal count. Madi Taylor underlined her continual improvement in this premiership team by finishing runner-up. Krista of course also won the Jodi Chandler Medal for the best player in the YVMDFNL.
Ironically James Charge , who won the YVMDFNL award, finished second to Hots. The result was reminiscent of 2011 when another star ruckman,Owen Millwood ,took the League award but was pipped by David Noorda for the local gong.
Meantime Ben Telford's selfless dedication to the Club was rewarded with the Paul Wicks Medal for best player in the Twos. Dan Stevens and Symon Hill shared the runner-up medal.
B Grade netball, the Helen Wositzky Medal, was taken home by Jacqui Carr with "Mel Van" finishing second. C Grade was a close battle between the co-host of the evening, Romy Schauble and Alana Wallis with Romy taking the medal and then declining to interview herself.
Leah Cody's sensational Spring continued with victory from the apparently ageless Michelle Tomlinson in D Grade. Leah was also our best player during the victorious finals campaign.
Checking some other key awards, "Ms Popularity" Molly Rogers won the Greg Zavan Youth Award while the Best Clubman "Pop Swyer" gong went to Trevor Currie.
Trevor's victory was almost by popular acclaim given his commitment to the club at training and on match days plus his amazing efforts behind the camera which are reflected in his photo posts on our Facebook site. Is there another community sports club in Australia with photo coverage this good ?
Congrats to Romy and Sam for hosting another great evening.
