Hi to everyone,
Whilst we're in the off-season, there are still plenty of things bubbling along to keep us more than busy.
We ran the annual Cup Weekend Plant Stall and things went pretty successfully, after some incredibly poor weather. Sunday saw us set up from the clubrooms, scrapping the usual Kalorama position. We were able to generate some good sales despite the rain, but decided to come back on Tuesday to have another crack. Rick and Derry were tremendous on Tuesday and were able to virtually remove, all remaining stock. Great effort guys ! We still have a few pots remaining which will go late November. Which brings me onto my next point.
The Mt.Dandenong Food and Wine Festival, which had previously been cancelled for 2010, will now go ahead under some restrictions on Sunday 28th November. All stalls, including our traditional "Egg n Bacon Roll" stall, will be set up around The Mt.Dandenong Hotel grounds on the day. We'll be looking to move the last of our plants that day as well. Keep that locked in your diary. Any help would be much appreciated !
Last Thursday evening, we saw the Bendigo Bank Forum/Presentation Night held. The HillTop group was extremely well represented. Well done to everyone who again, gave up their time to help push our project along. It's fair to say the night was a success, in terms of presenting our proposal to the Bank Directors, as well as the Ridge Top community. We won't actually know the outcome until late November, so fingers crossed for all involved. The Powerpoint Presentation provided by HillTop was pretty powerful, with most leaving the night, pretty impressed with the proposals, the planning, and the attitude of the group. Well done HillTop !
Baby News - Our congratulations go to the Riddiford family as the first child (a girl) of the next generation was born on Friday 22nd October. Aaliah Raie Riddiford was born at 8.16pm, weighing in at a tidy 5pds 8.5oz. Proud mum Rachael, and proud Dad Liam are doing well. New Aunty's Kelli and Stacey, are also said to be extremely excited, but so far, both have shied away from the "cleaning duties". And, this means that Chriss and Jenny (Mr and Mr's Wizz) have now become Grandparents, which I know they're absolutely thrilled about (Chriss isn't happy about sleeping with a Grandmother; you'll get used to it mate) It's been a huge year for Rachael and Liam, having gotten married back in March. 2010 is a year they'll not forget in a hurry. Congratulations to you all !
Remember, if you have any news you wish to share, babies, engagements, weddings etc, please slip me an email and I'll add it to the newsletter. There are a significant number of ex-club members who also recieve this newsletter, and are always keen to see how things are progressing. We hope you're all in good health. Your committee and the SMG have continued to work hard since the seasons end, to prepare this club for the 2011 season. Football pre-season is only a few weeks away, all details can be found on the website. It's been great to see so many guys out running already. A sign of a committed group for the new year !
