The Moe Football Netball Club is pleased to announce the appointment of James Blaser as its new senior coach for the next 3 years.
Blaser has been a successful player at the club and has a wealth of experience as being one of the premier footballers in the Gippsland area and is highly respected by many through the local football circles on and off the field.
Selection committee Chair and Football Manager Lachlan Sim says Blaser represents the change needed to lead and build the football program created by departing coach Adrian Burgiel during the past 2 years where the club has implemented a strong youth program which has set the club up for a bright future.
“We are delighted to give James an opportunity to coach and we feel the timing is right for him to take the next step in his football journey and we think his appointment will be very well received in the local football community which is critical to the clubs growth and development of the next generation of kids that we have coming through. It is our vision that James will be a long-term coach of our football club as we build toward sustained success .“
Moe Football Netball Club President Manny Gelagotis says Blaser’s appointment follows an extensive discussion between the Selection Committee to allow for a smooth transition and to find the right person with the right leadership qualities to take the club into what could be its best chance to gain ultimate glory.
“To our outgoing coach Adrian Burgiel , we would like to extend our deepest gratitude for what he has achieved since taking on the role. He has restored a competitive spirit to our teams and has laid the foundations for our club to now move forward and have some senior football success and we thank him very much as it wasn’t an easy job leaving behind a great club and personal career in Maffra to come to a club that needed some serious guidance from a football perspective on and off the field.”
“Adrian has earned nothing but the highest level of respect from everyone at Moe and the wider football community, showing he has the qualities and the drive to become an quality coach just as he was a player. I have with many others formed a great personal friendship with Adrian and he will be sorely missed on and off the field and we wish him and his family all the success in the world and I’m sure I speak on behalf of all our players , members , sponsors and supporters”.
“Our selection of Blaser was pretty straight forward as he ticks all the boxes and naturally is a hard worker , leader and mentor to the playing group and more importantly our youngsters. He is at an age where we think he will be a long term investment for our local football community which naturally includes all the Leagues in Gippsland so coupled with our great facility Ted Summerton Reserve we now believe our club is ready to strike and deliver some great long term success with a coach that will have a heavy focus on recruiting the best local talent around and develop our young local stars that are prepared to have a go at the elite level of football in Gippsland ,” Gelagotis said.
“This is a significant decision for Moe and it was imperative for our players , members , sponsors and juniors that we found the right person and the right fit to take our club forward, and I have every confidence that James Blaser is the right man for the job.
“I along with the board believe we now have the foundations to grow the Moe Football Netball Club both on and off the field into the future. We are aligned and committed to returning the Moe Lions to being a dominant force once again in the region’s best football competition .”
