Country Victorian football clubs have joined hundreds of community teams for a very special season launch at Etihad Stadium.
Representatives of community clubs, donning their team colours proudly, gathered alongside the 18 AFL club captains to showcase the role local football plays in the sport nationally.
Country teams from every corner of Victoria were represented with the jumpers of Moe, Ballarat and even Sunraysia league club Wentworth on show.
More than 50 country clubs sent representatives, with many more posting their jumper to be worn by others in the photo.
Ben Morrow, wearing his Moe jumper, was one such representative, making the trip from Moe to ensure his club was front and centre in the photo before staying to meet the AFL captains.
Morrow said it was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.
“It’s great that the Moe Football Club jumper is on show alongside other clubs from all over Victoria,” he said.
“To be out here in the middle of Etihad and having the chance to chat to the AFL captains is a pretty awesome opportunity.”
