Diggers V Rupo
From the start of the game we were not there. The first quarter was embarrassing. We were beaten everywhere. Mids were second to the ball, outworked and made to look second rate. We got nothing outside a contest and had 4 handball receives for the quarter. Basically we couldn’t get our hands on the ball at all. We had little leadership or organisation on the ground for the whole first quarter. Backs got little help but never really committed to defending. They were led to the ball and didn’t want to fight to keep their opponent from getting a touch. The biggest thing that stood out in the first quarter was rupo's ability to apply second and third efforts and our inability to cover the ground. We looked nervous and scared to pull the trigger with a kick all around the ground which was due to rupo's pressure and our lack of movement. Forwards generally didn’t lead more than once and didn’t look to involve themselves if the ball didn’t get kicked to them. After the first quarter we were more involved and broke even for the game. Mids started to get their hands on it and at least improved from the first quarter. There wasn’t many guys who won their position for the day. It was a performance that I was embarrassed to be part of. We will go to work on multiple areas over the next few weeks to turn it around...
