The Seniors were made to work for their 47-point victory over Oakleigh. The Nodders lead by just a point at the long break and were still only 10 points up as the siren sounded for three-quarter time. Fortunately the ball was in the hands of JP Malietzis who showed composure beyond his years to slot a goal from the boundary and shift the momentum for good. The last quarter was a rout as Rees Thomas capped a BOG game with a couple of goals, while at the other end Byron Bonner was impassable at centre half-back.
The Reserves thrashed Oakleigh by 113 points with Chamath Jayawera kicking another 7 goals to make it 18 from his last three matches. Nick Thomas returned from his honeymoon (literally) with a fantastic match and was only shaded for BOG honours by Nick Lewton.
The Thirds were again denied an opportunity to get Cam Raine to the ton with NOBS-St. Pats forfeiting the match. The 3s remain undefeated atop the ladder.
The Under 19s pushed top-side Fitzroy to five-points away from home in a result that was both disappointing, but also very encouraging. After getting off to a flying start, Mazenod relinquished the lead in the second quarter, but remained right in the game until the final siren. Liam Riley kicked 2 goals in a BOG performance, and Josh Trounce and Jarryd Dietzel were again outstanding.
