PANTHERS NEWS &
MATCH REPORTS ROUND 2 & 3
Hi Players and Supporters,
The club has had some major changes in our teams since round 1, there was some confusion with FIDA’s game rules about the number of interchange players we could have in our teams, as we are able to have unlimited interchange players we decided that it was better to combine our Blue and Black teams together and allow our two remaining teams to have plenty of players to allow us to field a strong team in Division 2 and in Division 3. If we had left as it was with 3 teams, our teams would have been short had we had a few injuries during the season. Unfortunately, FIDA didn’t allow our Division 2 side to retain any points from round 1.
Mazenod Black put in a valiant effort against Ringwood in round 2, but wasn’t able to keep up with them, but showed class beating Parkside in round 3. Mazenod White has been playing with great determination and spirit but has not been able to come away with a win yet.
In Round 4 our black team has a bye, but we are still going to give everyone a game, we will be having a special Blue V Black game at Central Reserve at 12:30pm after the White’s game. The teams will be made up of all the players from the Black team and a few from the White team if required. In Round 5 Mazenod White has a bye so we will have another special game with the White team being split up into two teams and playing off against each other, with a few players from the Black team if required. Please come down early and support your team mates and cheer them on to victory.
We would like to thank Dave Regan for his dedication over the many years as our club coach, it was great to see so many come down to the Pie Night and thank Dave personally and give him a great send off. We know he will have a great time in the US and will show them the Mighty Panther Spirit.
Please remember training will now be at Central reserve every Wednesday from 4:30pm to 5:30pm.
A reminder to all players that membership fees are now over due, please arrange payment with Karen Morrison or Sue Soles.

MAZENOD BLACK
ROUND 2
2.3.15 DEFEATED BY RINGWOOD 7.9.51 AT RINGWOOD
Due to unforeseen circumstances this was our first game of our combined Black and Blue Panthers teams. With Dave Reagan going overseas, Paul McDonald took over the reins.
The coach gave his instructions to the team before the game, kick the ball long and protect your teammate, look for the black, blue and white jumpers when kicking the ball.
The game started, the ball went back and fro, hard to score on both sides, but it was a good hard game of football. By the end of the first quarter Mazenod Panthers were only 4 points down with Mark Vanderven kicking the only goal. The coach told the players kick the ball up the middle or the sides.
The 2nd quarter started, our team was up against it, bigger and taller players for Ringwood, it was a hard quarter, with the Panthers taking the lead with a goal by John Soles. We now lead by 2 points.
Then the 3rd quarter came and with the Panthers players losing concentration, not scoring at all, Ringwood kicking 4 goals they now lead by 25points.
The fourth quarter we played hard and tried our best but the frustration was creeping in when we were unable to close the gap to Ringwood.
Final Score - Ringwood 7.9.51 defeated Panthers 2.3.15

MAZENOD BLACK
ROUND 3
10.10.70 DEFEATED PARKSIDE 3.6.24 AT CENTRAL RESERVE
The Coach, Paul McDonald gave his instructions, the Panthers ran onto the field, and then the game started. What a difference a week makes, it was like another team came out to play, with a strong wind blowing, and strong defence by the Panthers defenders, we kept Parkside scoreless. Goals scored by Michael Young and Mark Vanderven.
The 2nd quarter saw the Panthers score 3 more goals, one each to Simon Pollock, Samson Samason and another one for Michael Young. Now we lead by 30 points, Parkside scoring 7 points. Coach’s instructions watch the strong wind, attack the ball, playing as a team, when we get the ball make sure we keep it.
The 3rd quarter, saw the strong wind continue, making it hard to kick the ball straight. Panthers scored a goal by Rod Pettitt . Panthers now lead by 23 points.
Paul the Coach told players, they are looking for the Black, Blue and White jumpers, handling the ball more, Paul was pleased that the players were listening to his instructions.
The last quarter was a good quarter for the Panthers scoring goals by Michael Young, Adam Sutherland, Mark Vanderven and Peter Bisognin.
Panthers suffered an injury Aaron Yaksender 1st quarter wrist could not continue the match.
Well done PANTHERS
