At the Blues successful mid year auction night, club stalwart and backroom powerbroker, Andrew 'Macca' McLellan, became the successful purchaser of the 'Blues Backyard blitz' after the Blue Diamonds couldn't stump up the required money to purchase this much sort after auction item.
To the delight of the Blues players who turned up expecting to work all afternoon in the blazing sun fixing up Macca's veggie patch (again), Macca instead altered proceedings and set a fine precedent for future purchasers of this auction item. To the delight of the boys, the only labour required was to make delightful conversation over rib eye steaks accompanied by some fine Mornington Peninsula wine.
In between games of competitive cricket (Ace took a couple on the body, but wouldn't give Gleason the satisfaction of rubbing the mark), trampolining and kicking the footy, the boys relaxed in the spa with a few well earned ales.
The company of Club physio Alison was also enjoyed, if only to ensure that there was a driver at the end of the day to take them back to Melbourne.
Beware anyone else purchasing this item at next years auction, the Blues players are likely to expect that they will not be required to do any work, just be waited upon.
