2019 LIFE MEMBER – ROD KROENERT

In 2009 Rod was introduced to KSC Phoenix Basketball through the Biddy Ball Clinic. His son Jacob was in Prep and was attending Bayswater North Primary School. He was then encouraged to become the coach for Jacob’s Under 8s team.

In 2010 Rod joined the committee assuming the role of Girls Co-ordinator. He is still in this role today. Rod is passionate about ensuring all players are learning the correct skills they need while having fun playing basketball with their friends.

In 2011 Rod’s daughter Rebekah joined KSC Phoenix and began playing in Under 8s. Once again he took on the coaching position for her team.

Over the seasons Rod has not only coached his own children’s teams but has taken on the job of many other teams. I believe Rod has had a team or two in finals every season during his tenure and on numerous occasions has brought home the blue flag.

Rod is a yes man and always finds a way to get the job done.

This ‘can do’ attitude saw him receive the Club Person of the Year award in 2013.

Rod can be found wondering the stadiums at 8am on Saturday mornings and still there at 8pm in the evening. Now with Jacob in u19s he has to trawl around on Sunday nights as well.

Over the 10 years that Rod has been involved in the club, he continues to love coaching and teaching the kids how to play. He has coached from Under 8’s all the way through to Under 23’s and is currently coaching an u16 and an U8 Girls team. Both teams are thriving under Rod’s guidance and the 16s look like a having a berth in finals.
