Season 1987 we finished on top of the Seniors ladder having recorded 16 wins, 3 losses and a draw. Echuca finished 3rd with 14 wins, 5 losses and a draw. Shepp finished in 4th possie with 14 wins and 6 losses. Remember; we had lost the last three grand-finals.
We lost the 2nd Semi to Echuca - 15.7 (97) to 11.23 (89) Richard WARNURTON kicked 4 goals, Craig BLIZZARD kicked 2, Greg SCHNERRING 2 and singles to Chris FORD, Kevin HICKS and Dallas TERLICH. Our best players were listed as Warby, Gary KITTO, Ross SIDEBOTTOM, Skinny. Bruce FULLER and Chris WOODMAN. That loss of course placed us into the Preliminary Final against Shepparton.
This game was at Deakin Reserve on Sunday 20th September 1987. We won which gave us another crack at Echuca in the Big Dance. And yes; we won the Flag over Echuca. And yes; we won the next two flags too! What a sensational era this was.

1987 was an unbelievable fantastic season for us. We had our Seniors, Reserves and Under 18's in the Grand Final. Unfortunately just our Seniors won the flag - we defeated Echuca 18.23 (131) to the Murray Bombers 14.7 (91) Our Reserves were defeated by Shepparton 19.14 (128) to our 16.13 (109) - Shepp also knocked us off in the Under 18's 15.13 (103) to 7.7 (49).
