PINES CLUB NOTES. Round 17. Pines v Edi Asp. 16 Aug 2014
Your scribe takes much pleasure in compiling lists and databases for future references and the latest to rise to the surface is one that we haven’t seen for a while and that is- ‘He who has played the most Reserves games but has never played a Senior game’. Andy ‘The Tout’ Peyton has held this title since 1999 after beginning in 1988 playing 116 res games. Nigel ‘The Nudge’ Nunn today breaks that record and becomes the new title holder with 117 res gms without ever playing a Senior game. Good work there Nigel and how could I ever forget that Will Casey plays his 200th club game today (59sr, 141res). Let’s also say well done here to all those players who in some cases are not even known all that well but get out there every week to make up mainly the reserves teams and keep the club and the game going. Who has played the most Senior games without ever playing a Reserves game? That is Brendon Moore (160). Seniors, in their 49th game v Seaford, recorded their 22nd win v them after kicking an earth-shattering 10gls in the first term. The Tigers did rally in the last qtr, doubling their score, but it wasn’t enough as Pines had likewise doubled their first term score by then. Best; Shaun White (5gls), Matt Goodman and Jamie Messina. Guy Hendry, with 4gls, should be back in second place in the league goals. It was like an old fashioned ‘out in the streets’ recruitment drive to get enough players for our Reserves but it worked and the team got home by 5pts. A zero first qtr score and 21pts down at citrus time, the well deserved win was the result of one of the most exciting last qtrs on record. Best; Gord Hendry, Majok Puok (3rds) and Hayden Clancy (5gls). Thirds result was as usual but once again there is brightness in seeing 3gls scored. Certainly better than the all zeros count. Best; Dale Ryan, Tyson Alli and Bayley Burt. This is our last home match today so we thank you to all the home match workers for their input. Hope that you have enjoyed it as much as me. The Last Bud.
