Club Welfare Officer

Heathdale Hornets - Club Welfare Officer

Victoria has introduced compulsory minimum standards for organisations that provide services for children to help protect children from abuse.

These new standards are known as “Victorian Child Safe Standards”. (See Child Safe Standards, on the Department of Human Services website for more information on the legislation).

As part of this legislation, the Heathdale Hornets Basketball Club has appointed Fiona Voigt as our Club Welfare Officer. Fiona is a qualified teacher and is a Team Manager for two Hornets teams, with both her daughters playing for the club.

This is an excerpt from the Child Protection Policy:

This officer will look over matters concerning child safety and abuse.

The Club Welfare Officer will ensure that concerns/incidents reported to them remain confidential and that the identity of the person reporting the concern/incident is not revealed. They will be required to report all the incidents noted by them to the appropriate authority who will then ascertain whether or not the person/s involved in the incident play a role in the organisation and act accordingly.

All parents, coaches and team managers will discuss any concerns that they may have about the welfare of a child with the nominated Club Welfare Officer.

Fiona can be contacted at Heathdale.hornets.welfare@gmail.com
