Working with Vulnerable Children

The Tuggeranong Southern Cross Basketball Club cares about the safety and welfare of your children.

One of the key ways we support your children is through compliance with the Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) legislation.  This legislation requires all coaches over the age of 16 to obtain a WWVP Clearance.

There is no registration costs to volunteer coaches or managers.  If you already hold a general registration (that is your registration is not conditional or role based) you can use your current WWVP registration card for any regulated activity.  You must carry your WWVP card at all times while engaged in a regulated coaching activity as you may be asked to produce it to verify current registration. It is against the law to work or volunteer in a regulated activity if your WWVP registration has expired. It is an offence for a person to volunteer in a regulated activity without a registration (fines up to $7,000 and/or 2 years imprisonment can apply).

All current coaches must make sure they provide a copy of their WWVP card (front and back) to the Public Officer at public-officer@southerncrossbasketball.net.
