Round 2
SEAFORD BLACK U/10 versus PINES
Today we took on the Pines at Pat Rollo. It was a hectic morning for some with seven of the boys playing in a basketball grand final at Bon Beach. The boys rushed back and got to the ground with about five minutes to spare (thanks to Mark Vella). We were jumped in the first quarter with the Pines kicking a few quick goals and our boys not running and again not manning up. I was really happy with the way the boys responded in the second with a lot more run and carry as well as manning up. They could have easily let the game slide away so it was good to see them keep their heads up and keep pushing on. We managed three goals in the second which really put us back in it. Our third quarter was solid adding another two goals and the boys getting some quick centre breaks and keeping the pressure up. We were up against it in the last with the Pines boys kicking with the wind and adding another three goals to our one. Great effort today boys and if we keep working hard at training our rewards will come. Our captains today were Owen Pawsey and Mitchell Jenkins.
GOALS; Zac Rowell got 4 and Nathan Kennedy 2
Round 1
SEAFORD BLACK U/10 versus CARRUM PATTERSON LAKES U/10
Today we travelled to Roy Dore reserve to take on Carrum/Patt on a great morning to kick off the season. The boys started the game full of run and putting into practice a lot of the the drills we have been working on. The handball and running in groups really payed of early with the ball spending a lot of time in our forward line and a great long goal by Mitch Jenkins from the pocket. Our second quarter was just as good with Owen Pawsey kicking 2 goals against the wind and the boys still running hard and helping each other. We kicked another 2 goals in the third but with the boys not manning up let Carrum get some easy ones. Our last quarter was really consistant and great to see the boys run out the full game kicking another 2 against the wind. I asked the boys to have some belief in themselves and each other and their football will take care of itself. They did that today and were a joy to watch. Thanks to Kev for stepping up as team manager, Seany for being my runner and assistant, Mark Duivenvoorde as trainer, Simon Rickards and Dale Timms as umpires and all other parents that are helping out. Keep up the hard work boys and you will have a great season. Our captains today were Max Van- Ingen and Josh Segar. Well done boys.
GOALS; Mitchell 2, Owen 2,Ryan 1 and Nath k 1. + 1 other in the third that I will find out and let you all know next week. Thanks all Ironfist
