The Toronto Dingos Football Club kicked off their 2022 OAFL campaign with an emphatic win over the Gargoyles in Guelph.
After an early arm-wrestle the Dingos took control of the game and overpowered Guelph to grab their first win by 51-points.
The Dingos led by 8 points at quarter-time, but kicked away, adding 8.5, while holding Guelph to just one goal.
The 68-17 win, which was also Dingos veteran Pat Bossey’s 100th game, had solid contributions across the ground.
Ben Sinclair returned to football after a seven-year break. He booted five goals in a best-on-ground effort, which included a 50-metre torpedo goal on the quarter-time siren.
Harry Shelton and Matthew Hastas, who also played their first game for the club, provided firepower up forward. Big Harry hit the contests hard and kicked two goals while Hastas cleaned up at ground level for two goals.
The backline kept Guelph to just two goals and was led by the strong defensive efforts from vice-captain Tim Indian, captain Mike Bocian and Greg Gilbert. Francis Lacasse was dominant in the ruck and had a purple patch in the third term knocking the ball deep into the forward line with repeated efforts that led to goals.
The Dingos take on the Roos this Friday at Humber South.
