2019 Season Summary

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: 2019 SEASON (Jessy Mulla)

This was my third season as president of this great football club and this is my annual report and overview of the 2019 season.  I am pleased to inform you that the club continues to do well in all of our key performance areas in terms of running a community based football club.

Football:

Season 2019 proved to be a strong season in terms of player numbers with a total of somewhere around 102 registered for the senior component of the club. The club fielded six teams across all senior competitions in 2019 with five out of the six being involved in the finals series in their respective divisions. Our Premier Ladies team won the premiership but were unlucky in the Grand Final and Crad Evans. Our Mens Third Division team took out the treble by winning the Premiership, Grand Final and the Crad Evans. The Premier Mens, Premier Reserves and Mens Second Division, all made the semi finals but were unlucky in defeat. I would like to thank the playing groups and their respective coaches and support staff for their outstanding efforts for the 2019 season.

Administration & Governance:

This year the committee grew in numbers. We welcomed new members Jimmy and Ayden Eszes to the committee. A huge thank you to the new and existing members of the committee for making the year a successful one. I would also like to thank our tireless volunteers from the playing group and club members without whom, the club would not run as efficiently as it does. Several players stepped up to help with refereeing and canteen duties and their help is very much appreciated.

Throughout the year, the club consistently got praise on how we conducted ourselves. Our game day welcome to other clubs, the food we serve, including our successful pizza nights, and the number of volunteers helping on game days are the envy of other clubs.

At the FNQ Presentation night, we won many awards including:

Mens Player of the Year – Cameron Nucifora

Premier Ladies Coach of the Year – Natalie Fischera and Stacey Jones

Third Division Coach of the Year – Chris Smethurst

Third Division Goal Keeper of the Year – Khan Rebic

Third Division Golden Boot – Jacob Pagano

Overall, our club is in a great position on and off the field thanks to our fantastic committee and playing group.

I would like to thank our sponsors. Without their help the club would find it extremely difficult to operate. Also, once again, I would like to thank our fantastic committee and our volunteers for their outstanding efforts in making 2019 a great year.
