Club Objectives
Like most junior football clubs we love nothing more than having a win. However this is not our primary objective. Our guiding principle is to teach and educate young players in the virtues of fair play and sportsmanship, lessons that hopefully they can apply in life as they get older. If we can convey these principles then on field success will be a pleasant by-product of the process
Our overall objective is for all kids who play footy at Paynesville Juniors to learn all they can about the game, love playing and keep playing footy into the future.
We aim to improve and maximise the skills and capabilities of all players. To do this we will:
-
Field the maximum number of players allowed by the BDJFL, in all games when players are available to play, for all Paynesville teams.
-
Have all players on the ground for a minimum of two quarters in Home and Away games, for all Paynesville teams.
-
Have players in all Paynesville teams play in a range of different positions throughout the Home and Away season games to develop and broaden their understanding of the game
-
Identify player potential and enhance it wherever possible
-
Enhance player understanding and knowledge of the rules and strategies for playing the game
-
Promote and encourage teamwork, cooperation and support amongst all players, families and friends involved with the Club
-
Ensure that wherever possible all players, families and friends enjoy their footballing experience with the Club
-
Strive for and enjoy on-field success wherever possible, in line with the previous objectives
-
Provide a long-term career path option for all players through to the senior ranks within the Paynesville Football Netball Club and beyond.
While striving to achieve these objectives we also work hard to minimise annual fees and charges, wherever possible, while ensuring that the Club remains financially stable and viable.
Parent/Guardian Support
We understand that in today’s world everybody is busy and has lots to do each week. However, to be a successful and sustainable Club we must rely upon all parents/guardians providing their assistance wherever possible.
To effectively organise the necessary game day support Team Managers will allocate Parents / Guardians to a roster of game day jobs. There are a range of roles to fill each week and if we are able to share those roles around it will continue to enhance the strong community approach of our footy club. None of the roles are complex and we will ensure that people understand the requirements for each task.
Match day roles that people will be asked to share as part of the roster include:
-
Helping in the canteen, immediately before after your kids game when playing at home
-
Taking photos for the newsletter
-
Ground set-up or pack-up
-
1st Aid for all games.
Rosters for these roles will be finalised and forwarded to all parents prior to the first game.
We also fund training for parents, Coaches and Trainers courses on an annual basis and are always interested in people becoming active Committee members.
Additionally, to maximise player enjoyment and safety, the Committee expects that wherever possible all parents/guardians will attend matches and support their teams. (We do not condone players being dropped-off and left totally in the care of Coaches and Team Managers). If you cannot attend a match during the season, please contact your coach and/or Team Manager.
Code Of Conduct
In line with Committee’s previously outlined objectives, Paynesville Football Netball Club want all players, families and friends to enjoy their footballing/netballing experience at the Club and have a strong sense of belonging. To assist us to achieve this objective the following Code of Conduct, which applies to all registered players and family members has been established
At all times all PFNC junior players will:
-
Display respect and courtesy towards their coaches, team-managers and other Club officials; umpires and league officials at any game; and opposition players, coaches and officials.
-
Willingly follow the guidance and instructions of their coaches at training and on match days.
-
Cooperate with their team-mates and enjoy being part of a total team effort.
-
Play within the laws and spirit of the game.
-
A current certificated 1st Aider will be rostered on during your games. Please follow the instructions of all !st Aiders. If they say you are not ok to play on, you must follow their instructions. Parents please give our 1st Aiders the space to do their job.
-
Must adhere to the Junior Bullying/Player Conduct Policy.
At all times PFNC junior parents/guardians will:
At the Committee’s discretion, any player/parent/guardian who is unwilling to abide by this Code of Conduct may be suspended or dismissed from the Club.
Club Fees
The PFNC Club Committee has established annual registration fee of $90 per player for the 2015 season. This covers the following:
-
Club Affiliation with AFL Vic Country
-
Club Affiliation with FNEG
-
League Administration Charge
-
Umpires
-
Insurance paid to AFL Vic Country (Note: Quadriplegia and Paraplegia Insurance Upgrade is not included in this cover).
This money is then forwarded directly to Football Netball East Gippsland (FNEG) who in turn forward the funds onto each relevant organisation. The club has no surplus funds from your registration fees. This is all part of the necessary expenses associated with running a sporting club.
Football Netball East Gippsland also relies on it's own sponsors and fundraising to keep fees to clubs as low as possible. The gate and canteen takings from the FNEG final series, both junior and senior go towards keeping these fees as low as possible.
Our season is NOT over at the end of the home and away games. You will be asked at the conclusion of the home and away series to assist once during the final series with canteen duties in Bairnsdale for a couple of hours.
Trophies & Presentation Day.
We have a presentation day at the end of the season where trophies will be presented to our players.
Your fees DO NOT cover the cost of trophies for our junior players. The trophies as well as all other activities on presentation day are funded from fundraising throughout the season.
Our home game canteen is a major fundraiser towards the cost of trophies. Please support our canteen with your purchases as well as helping out when you are rostered to do so.
That said, our canteen does not cover the entire cost of trophies and presentation day. We need to do more fundraising on top of this also.
Gear Needed.
For those of you who are new to the club; there will be things you will need to purchase for your child: boots, shorts, socks and a mouth guard. U10 Coaches and committee have also made the wearing of protective head gear for U10s compulsory. Mouth and head guards are mandatory – no mouth guard, no head guard-no play. Mouth guards are available from the chemist for about $8. The club has secured sponsorship for head guards. Every u10 player will receive a head guard.
A clean club jumper will be supplied every week. We recommend you wash your shorts and socks every week.
Football boots, shorts and socks are available at Sportsco and Karls. The shorts for Paynesville are royal blue with the AFL Vic Country official logo on the leg. The socks are plain royal blue.
For those players who have played previously who have shorts with the old VCFL logo, these will not be able to be worn beyond season 2014 so please consider getting the shorts with the new AFL Vic Country logo.
The club has some used boots. If your old pair does not fit you, you may be able to get a usable pair. See Ross for more info.
If you choose to wear skins, they must be flesh toned or royal blue. You will be asked to remove them if they are any other colour as the club can be fined by the league for this.
Strapping of Ankles, etc.
PFNC has a policy of not applying supportive strapping to juniors, unless advised by a doctor. In this case, the doctor will need to demonstrate to the parent of the player how the area in question needs to be strapped. It will then be the responsibility of the parent to strap their player prior to each game. The player should also train with the same area strapped.
In the case of a player being injured during a game, strapping will not be applied so a player can continue playing.
Medical advice from professionals is that strapping of limbs, etc of developing young people can do substantial harm. Our advice is that rest of the affected area is the best medicine for young people who are injured. If the injury is more serious, we recommend your player see a doctor.
