An update from the Club President...

 Dear Tiger Families,
Hard to believe the 2020 season would be over already. While it has been frustrating to not have footy, I think we are all appreciating the big picture and where kids footy sits in the greater scheme.
It has been great to see so many kids and parents keeping fit, kicking the footy, and generally staying connected to the game and the club.
We are pleased to have rolled-over so many registrations to 2021, which gives us a great start for our planning. We are proud that through good management from the Club and the EFNL, we have been able to keep costs to a minimum, and not charge ridiculously high fees of some neighbouring clubs and Leagues. As an entire Club, we will need to work hard next year to return the club coffers to a healthy balance through new player registrations, our Sponsorship program and fundraising activities. We all have a role to play in this space.
I would like to thank those families who donated their 2020 fees to the club, and in the true spirit of Community sport, did not seek recognition for doing so.
For those who rolled-over their fees, we held a prize draw, and we are pleased to announce the following winners:

  • Liam O’Dwyer – Under 10 Boys ($100 Eastland Voucher)
  • Zahli Murphy – Under 12 Girls (Leather Sherrin)
  • Max Dinon – Under 15 Boys (Adidas Boots)

Congratulations to you all, and thank you. These prizes are part of the pack our Club won as part of the “Love The Game, Not The Odds” campaign through the EFNL and the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation.
As our 2021 planning ramps up. We invite all-comers to apply for coaching positions. Our 2020 Coaches only need to advise the Footy Ops Manager of their desire to continue. As a Club, we are committed to providing the kids with the best possible footy experience, thus all positions are open each year. Applications will remain anonymous. Please contact our Footy Operations Manager Leigh Walters with your interest –
by 5pm 23 September 2020.
We are still seeking applicants for the following Committee/Sub-Committee roles:

  • Registrar
  • Grants Officer
  • Merchandise Manager
  • Welfare Officer
  • Trainers Coordinator

It is critical these roles are filled so that we are sharing the workload fairly and remain the best administered club we can be. The time commitment averages out to less than 1 hour per week for most roles, Committee meetings are held no more than once every six weeks, and it is a great way to be involved in the Club’s future direction.
We welcome the announcement from our Local State Member Dustin Halse MP to upgrade our lights at Walker Park. This is part of the State Government and Whitehorse Council lighting upgrade program, which will help improve training standards, and give us scope to potentially play twilight games.
We are looking forward to the 2021 season, hopefully as we knew it to be before this year. Once restrictions are relaxed to an adequate level, we will hold a social function (or two) in the new rooms to celebrate our great Club Community. Watch this space.
Take care of yourselves and each other. Go Tigers!

Kind regards,
Anthony Grace

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
