U13 Development Tournament a success

The past 3 days have seen over 120 players and officials compete in the annual SA Country Under 13 Development tournament, held at Morphett Vale.  The tournament was again a huge success that saw all of the players improve their skills, their understanding of basketball concepts and, make some lifelong friendships.  Each team played 5 games over 3 days and, camped out at an active outdoor education facility located in Normanville.  One of the highlights of the camp was again the team building activities both in-between games and at the camp site, with all of the players and coaches having a great time being involved.

This year featured our largest coaching staff yet!  The coaches put in a great effort and passed on a lot of wisdom to the young players that will serve them well in their playing future both with SA Country and within their home associations.  Back at the campsite, once the athletes were fast asleep, the Coaches engaged in coach development workshops, with a focus on player management, effective communication, and teaching structures.  A big thank you to all our Coaches for your time and expertise during this tournament.

Finally a big thank you to group manager Jenna Tolley and Georgia Wise who worked tirelessly behind the scenes at the camp and stadium, the event couldn’t have ran without your help.

We hope all those that attended thoroughly enjoyed their experience, and we look forward to watching you all progress through the SA Country pathway.  If you would like to be involved in the 2019 camp, keep an eye out on our social media for the 2018 TI Camp invites which are the first part of process for the program.
