ROUND NINETEEN: South Adelaide Panthers v Central District Lions

WOMEN by Kieren Vartuli

A heavy weekend load for South Adelaide showed that they are still a while away from being a top side but are on the way up. Despite dropping both games of their double-header, the Panthers only fell to the Rockets by 5 after a subpar 3rd period (14-20). Other than this poorer third term, the Panthers punished North inside by dropping thirty-eight in the paint. After what would have been a tiring outing against North, South travelled to Morphett Vale to visit the Tigers. Without one of their scoring leaders in McKendrick, the Panthers in turn struggled offensively and scored 51 overall and was outscored big in ¾ quarters. In the opposing locker room, the streak is over, the Lions finally recorded their first win after toppling the Warriors by 6-points. Lead by Jazmen Boone and her 26-points, the Lions had something to celebrate after a disappointing year. Although Boone was only one bright spark of the contest with their bench notching a delectable 36-points between Perez-Crespo and Swain. Depending on rotations and the roster of South Adelaide, the Lions might be able to grab back-to-back wins with some continued form.

Hang Time Prediction – Central District Lions

MEN by Daniel Renfrey

The Panthers were beaten handily by both the Rockets and the Tigers over the weekend in an unsuccessful Round 18. Their opponents this week, the Lions, also struggled, losing to the Warriors by 13 points. This game will be a battle on the inside for the Panthers, with their rebounding and number of blocks being quite below par this season. Allmon, who had 29 pts and 16 boards last week, will also need some more help from his teammates. The Lions will also need to be better inside and make their presence felt. They had a widespread offensive performance within the team against Woodville but their defence let them down. If they can tighten up inside and restrict their opposition from getting easy looks close to the basket, they’ll be a good chance to win.
