ROUND EIGHTEEN: Central Districts Lions vs Woodville Warriors

WOMEN by Kieren Vartuli

In this lower end of the table clash, Woodville travel to STARPlex and visit the Central Districts Lions. Both sides are coming off blowout losses with Centrals falling to West Adelaide by over thirty and Woodville to the Tigers by 22. Heading into this one, the Warriors are 6-10 and on the outside of finals looking in with only a few rounds remaining. The Lions, are looking to just finish what has been a disappointing season and are still on the search for a victory. Last time these sides met in Round One, the Warriors were victorious by 31-points behind Katherine Perkas’ 19-points. Since their first meeting, Teige Morrell has taken on much of the scoring load and averages just over 21-points per contest. Unfortunately, the difference between the 8th seed Warriors and 11th Lions is too great and Centrals will most likely be handed another loss.

Hang Time prediction: Woodville Warriors

MEN by Daniel Renfrey

The Lions will want to right the wrongs from their 86-75 loss to the Bearcats when they take on the Warriors this round. Riewer was strong for Central Districts, recording 24 points, four assists and eight rebounds to go along with six steals. However, his team could not give him enough support and ended up relinquishing too many good looks on defence for West Adelaide. The Warriors are also smarting coming off their huge loss to the Pioneers and will be desperate to bounce back this weekend. The team was shut down too easily by the Mt Gambier defence, giving up the ball too many times. They also stood no chance of stopping a fine-tuned Pioneers offence and, as a result, gave up too many easy points on top of the buckets they conceded off turnovers. They will need to produce better ball on both ends of the court if they want to put away the Lions, which may be easier said than done.
