ROUND SIXTEEN: South Adelaide Panthers v Mount Gambier Pioneers

WOMEN by Kieren Vartuli

In their visit to Adelaide, Mount Gambier have back-to-back action with their second game in 24-hours being against South Adelaide. With both sides having double-header duty, the endurance of both sides will come into discussion. With South having glimpses of goodness and Mount Gambier having a strong debut season, Saturday’s results will help determine the victor. Averaging 22-points per game, Amanda Frost will be the Pioneers primary option offensively with Pacchiyaanna Roberts (19.4-ppg) also being a strong secondary. These two will likely dismantle the Panther defence and in turn put on a showcase away from home. Rolling into this weekend with a 5-game winning streak shows their talent on the floor and why they should not be underestimated come this time of the year. The last time these two met, the Pioneers overcame the Panthers by double-digits in front of 900 strong at the Icehouse.

Hang Time Prediction: Mt Gambier Pioneers

MEN by Daniel Renfrey

The Panthers and Pioneers will go back-to-back and play off against each other following their first Round 16 games. Mt Gambier will be in good position to win this one not only because of their current form, but because of the depth the team boasts. The Panthers will have to lock down one or two Daly’s and quell the influence of Barkley. Although extremely hard, if this can be done, they’ll be a good chance of grabbing a huge upset. However, if the Pioneers can play their usual suffocating defence, with tight coverage and timely rotation, and also share the ball how they have been on offence, they will be extremely hard to stop. This one should be an easy Pioneers win, barring something spectacular from the Panthers.
