Striker Harrison Sawyer struck five goals and Devante Clut netted a hat-trick as Brisbane Roar Youth savaged Adelaide United Youth 10-0 in the Foxtel National Youth League on Saturday.

The Conference A leading Young Reds had no answer to a rampant Young Roar, with Nicholas D’Agostino and Jesse Daley also chiming in with a goal apiece at Cleveland Showgrounds.

The 10 goal margin is the largest in the competition’s eight seasons, bettering Young Roar’s previous record 11-2 win over Australian Institute of Sport in 2012.

The result also brings a close to a two-match run of defeats for Young Roar and marked the return of Hyundai A-League stars Michael Theo and Luke DeVere to competitive football following long injury lay-offs.

A fast-paced start to the contest saw Young Roar take the lead inside the opening quarter hour as Clut converted from the penalty spot after being brought down at the top of the box by fullback Mark Ochieng.

Two minutes later Sawyer opened his account from close range after being picked out by a cross from Shannon Brady, before the duo combined again shortly after with the Sawyer turning the ball home at full-stretch.

The visitors weren’t without chances – Theo denying a stinging shot from Dylan Smith just prior to the half hour – but couldn’t contain energetic Clut, who pounced on a deflection at close range to doubled his tally soon after and earn Yougn Roar a four goal half-time advantage.

The torrent of goals continued shortly after the restart as Brady earned a penalty, enabling Clut to seal his hat-trick with his second penalty of the match.

Midfielder Daley got in on the act only minutes later after pouncing at close range on a parried save from Young Reds goalkeeper Daniel Margush.

Smith sought to restore credibility for the Young Reds – calling upon substitute goalkeeper Tomislav Bilic to save just after the hour – however, Sawyer struck twice is as many minutes to continue the onslaught, rounding Margush to seal his hat-trick before heading home from another Brady cross for his fourth.

The visitors’ horror morning continued when Benjamin Warland was dismissed heading into the final quarter hour for an ill-timed challenge on Dane Ingham.

With superior numbers Young Roar took further advantage – D’Agostino sending Margush the wrong way to slot his side’s third penalty of the contest, before Sawyer iced the result with another close range finish.

Round 7 continues later today with Central Coast Mariners travelling to the capital to face FFA Centre of Excellence.

The round concludes on Sunday with two local derbies - Melbourne Victory Youth facing Melbourne City Youth in Conference A, while Sydney FC Youth and Western Sydney Wanderers Youth clash in Conference B.

Perth Glory Youth and Newcastle Jets Youth both have byes.
