Gold Coast City dug deep and proved their premiership mettle on Saturday night, storming back late to claim a 3-2 comeback win over Brisbane City.

Gold Coast looked listless for much of the second half, before big man Sam Smith took control of the encounter with an athletic double.

Brisbane City were heading for a spot in the top four after two goals from Nathan Bird, but the home side were ultimately unable to hold on until the final whistle.

Gold Coast should face an easier contest next weekend when they host Sunshine Coast, while Brisbane City will head up to Northern Fury needing a win to stay withing touching distance of the league leaders.
