McCloughan’s Shock Young Roar Exit

Brisbane Roar

Words: Michael Flynn

Brisbane Roar have announced that Josh McCloughan has stepped aside as the club’s youth team coach effective immediately.

Roar confirmed McCloughan’s departure via a short statement on their website on Tuesday and cited "personal reasons" as the catalyst for the shock announcement.

There was no confirmation in the statement if McCloughan will take up another role with the club where he made 90 Hyundai A-League appearances as a player between 2005 and 2010.

The statement added that John Sime will take charge of the Young Roar for their remaining two PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues fixtures, and a permanent appointment for head coach will be made in coming weeks.

McCloughan took the reins of Young Roar from Sime prior to last summer’s Foxtel National Youth League campaign.

He previously guided Queensland Academy of Sport in the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues 2013 season.
