Eastern Suburbs Women scored four second-half goals in brushing aside UQFC Women 5-0 at University of Queensland Field 7 on Wednesday night.

Despite a multitude of first-half chances, Easts led by only a single goal at the break courtesy of Jenna McCormick's third of the season.

An improved display of finishing helped the visitors surge clear after the restart as Renee Cowan, Tegan Riding and Tiffany Roberts all struck within 20 minutes, before Emma Pittman capped their return to winning ways.

The heavy defeat brings UQFC back to earth after the weekend's first win of the season away to Western Pride Women.

What They Said

“Defensively I was happy despite the scoreline, but there are only so many unforced errors we can make. We can only give the ball away to teams like this so many times and not get punished. We’ve got a little break now so we’re going to take some time to reset and come back in about a week’s time and start pushing us in possession, what we’re doing with the ball to start hurting oppositions.” – Rick Coghlan, UQFC Women’s coach

“In the first-half we were still making opportunities and had a lot of energy. But I think in the second-half after we got a couple of goals everything started to come together. I think last week was a little bit of a wake-up call for us. We definitely wanted to come into this week’s game and prove that we do play well as a team (and) work together.” – Michaela Hatzirodos, Eastern Suburbs FC Women
